Modern Architecture is an adapting aspect of the New Orleans skyline. Various modern structures have been constructed throughout the city depending on what neighborhood you are in.
The Mercedes-Benz Superdome is located in downtown New Orleans. Created by a local architect firm Curtis and Davis opening in 1975 was one of the structures damaged from Hurricane Katrina. Many thought the structure was not going to re-open but after renovations it is a key site for hosting major events in the city. It is thought to be a sign that New Orleans has rebuilt and is stronger than ever!
The World War II Museum opened in June of 2000 and is considered to be one of the top tourist sites in New Orleans. Tourist sites and reviews have named it "a must see" for history lovers!! Since opening the museum has had over 2,000,000 visitors and has been named the countries national museum by Congress.
Opening in 2002 the New Orleans BioInnovation Center is said to be the
direction that the city is heading with technology/architecture. Located near
The French Quarter and Treme neighborhoods the center is not only utilized for
conferences but houses various labs testing medical devices, clean
technologies, and research for diseases such as cancer.
