Marigny & Bywater

Faubourg Marigny also known as “The Marigny” is a neighborhood located in New Orleans. This neighborhood was developed in the early 19thcentury by Creole real estate developer and politician Bernard de Marigny on land that had been his family’s plantation. This neighborhood is known for one of the city’s most colorful neighborhoods the houses have a Creole and Classic Revival alot of the houses in these neighborhoods were abonded for some time but now have been restored. When walking around you will see bars, jazz bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks, and is also located just east of the French Quarter.

 The Bywater is also a neighborhood located in New Orleans. This neighborhood was developed in the 19thcentury and is known to have got its name according to nola.curbed.com “That as the newly established New Orleans Telephone Exchange connected phone lines throughout New Orleans in the early 1900s. it came up with names for undeveloped areas based on something immediately recognizable, like a street or land mark.” Since “The Bywater” is literally by the water that is how it got the name that is used today. Bywater is a side by side neighborhood with Faubourg Marigny, and is one of the city’s beloved neighborhoods the houses you will see are shotgun or Creole Cottages you will see art galleries, restaurants, live music venues, colorful murals, and is also located a few minutes away from the French Quarter.

The New Movement- comedy theater nightly stand up and sketch shows.
