Downtown & Warehouse District


Settled in the Late 1700s, The Downtown District, or the Central Business District (CBD) as you may hear it called, is home to the Mercedes-benz Superdome, a lot of upscale shopping, and some amazing restaurants.

Things to do & see:
The Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the Ashe Cultural Arts Center, the Smoothie King Center, the Orpheum Theater, and the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen to name a few.

The Luke Restaurant, Restaurant August, Domenica Restaurant, Borgne, and Johnny Sanchez to name a few.

Places to drink:
The Sazarac Bar, the Swizzle Stick Bar, the Cocktail Bar at Winsor Court, and Manolito, to name a few.

Places to shop:
Canal Place (a shopping mall), Meyer the Hatter, Rubenstein’s, Mignon Faget, and Beth Clayborn Interiors to name a few.

The Warehouse District, settled in the 1800s, is more sophisticated than the downtown scene. This district is home to award-winning chefs, Julia Street (Gallery Row), the National WWII Museum, and Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World.

Places to drink:
Peach Seafood Grill, Barrel Proof, the Cirle Bar, Fulton Alley, and the Howlin’ Wolf to name a few.

Places to shop:
Aunt Sally’s Pralines and the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk. Most shops in this District are art galleries.
